the new farm on your block

Superbloom Farms is a fresh take on urban farming, tucked away in the Madison Square Neighborhood of Grand Rapids. Our vertical farms live inside of upcycled shipping containers and grow the city’s freshest lettuce, herbs and edible flowers ALL year-round.

DISCOVERING THE POWER OF GREENS

Meet our founder Jill Frey

FRESH, Local AND SUPER NUTRITIOUS

Our mission is to provide reliable local food systems, create meaningful jobs and engage and educate the communities we serve on healthy eating and alternative farming methods. We believe that every community can benefit from a local food system that produces nutrient rich greens for its people. You can find us at Bridge Street Market, South East Market, Kingma’s, Doorganics, Reserve Wine and Food and The Sovengard.

A GREENER WAY TO GROW

Our hydroponic, container-based farm allows us to literally “grow food anywhere.” The technology inside the farm provides the optimum light, temperature, water, and nutrients to harvest our crops 365 days a year, in any climate. We use 95% less water than traditional soil farms and no pesticides or herbicides. Our urban setting means the costs and carbon footprint of transporting our food are almost zero when compared to commercial agriculture, and we can supply over 6,000 pounds of greens per container each year without stressing limited land resources.

ROOTED IN THE COMMUNITY

We planted our first farm in the heart of Grand Rapids, Michigan, a location we chose with the goal of hiring our neighbors in meaningful, well-paying jobs and participating in community outreach events. We’re also working to build partnerships with local grocers and chefs, becoming a trusted provider of the unique, flavorful artisan varieties they want.

WE’D LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU!

Are you interested in tasting our greens or partnering with us to grow something unique for your restaurant or store? Or would you like a tour of our farm for yourself or a student group? Let’s chat!
